He is a human being. Race does not matter. But yes, he is biracial, of mixed ancestry. But he can claim African heritage.
By solaran_x on Dec 4, 2008 | Reply
Actually, he’s American. Since he was born in America.
By american girl on Dec 6, 2008 | Reply
Of course it makes you biracial. What kind of fool would insult his own mother like that.
By Wise_Guy_57 on Dec 9, 2008 | Reply
Who says a biracial person cannot be African American?
His dad was an African, his mom was an American.
It works out anyway… ^__^

fortunately or Unfortunately you are considered African American.

He also lived in Indonesia for years.
In my opinion, Senator Obama is simply “American”. It doesn’t matter what color her is; he has a lot of them in him. Aren’t we supposed to be a melting pot?

The thing is, you can’t be a leader and not know what Islam means. The average Joe pumping gas on Route 66 - okay, not on top of the issue. But there is no way you can be running for President and not know the hell being wreaked on the free and not-so-free world by Islamic jihad.
That said, Barack Obama went to a madrassa in Jakarta. A madrassa in a Muslim country. Whether he was devout or secular, he knows what was taught. He knows what is in the Koran. Even if he is ambiguous, he knows the stakes involved. His father was a
Every Muslim who left Islam is very definitive about leaving and why.
Muslim who took three wives (without divorcing). His stepfather and close members of his family are devout Muslims. Not an unimportant influence.
Every Muslim who left Islam is very definitive about leaving and why. They are quite vocal - Wafa Sultan, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Walid Shoebat, Elijah Abraham, etc. If he left Islam, Obama must have very definite thoughts about it. He has to, he practiced Islam. That is not benign; it’s big. And even if, as inferred by big media, it was not big to him, then he can still appreciate how important it is knowing what he knows about Islam and apostasy.
Obama would have had to make a decision to reject Islam. When did he make that decision? How? Why the silence? Why the reluctance to talk about it?
Apostasy is punishable by death in Islam. Have there been calls for Obama’s death? If not, why not? Islam gives no free passes.
Obama’s posture on this is hard to define or understand, because it is a critical issue.
Transitional issues facing this nation and the world at large - the world at war, creeping sharia, the perversion of the rights of free men, individuals, women, etc., hang in the balance on the make up of the next president of the United States. The stakes could not be higher domestically.
On foreign policy, Europe has laid down. The political elites have capitulated to Islamists and to multiculturalists. *******. It seems unclear that they could hold up their end even if America did the heavy lifting.
As far as Israel is concerned, if Obama makes it to the big house, Israel is screwed. Finished. Obama’s church and Jew-hating pastor, Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., makes that evident. Israel will be on its own.
Perhaps that is necessary, though, because it seems they have relinquished their sovereignty to the US and they expect the US to guarantee their security. Ain’t never

gonna’ happen. No country, ever, should abdicate its role in protecting and defending itself. Ehud Olmert is on a one-way trip to nowhere. So maybe tough love is necessary, because this relationship is hurting Israel.
The recent revelations of Obama’s ties to Raila Odinga in Kenya are disconcerting as well, because Odinga is behind the terrible violence in his country. It was he who instigated bloody riots and killing after he lost the election. Obama’s bias for his fellow Luo was so blatant that a Kenyan government spokesman denounced Obama during his visit as Raila’s “stooge.” And while there are few angels in Kenya, Odinga is the source of great unrest and turmoil; and the MOU he signed with the Muslim Council to institute sharia is a foreshadowing of a dark fate for Kenya. (A Jacksonian picked up on my previous post on this and wrote a lengthy, well-researched piece on the politics and back story on Odinga.) Just how quickly will Kenya go Islamic?

As much as people may disagree with Louis Farrakhan’s statements or action; he is an American and this is America. He like anyone who can vote, can through their support to whoever they wish. Obama should be held accountable for someone else behavior; only his own.
Yes Obama is an African American. The one drop still applies.

Actually, Obama is one of the few I don’t mind people referring to as “African- American”.
A Continent and a country is not how we should be differentiating race. Are you an European-American?

yeah he is black and white
By JerseyGirlKelly on Dec 25, 2008 | Reply
Exactly! He is bi racial and I guess his mothers race means little to him. Now who is the ****** eh? Why doesn’t he claim to be biracial then like most people who are from parents of different races? Guess this does suit him to win??

I think a better question would be: How is Tiger Woods an African American?
Apparently, in American, for some strange reason, if you have any kind of African heritage AND you have some African features, you are African American even if you are in fact more Thai (like in Tiger’s case) than anything else!
By Megs on Dec 29, 2008 | Reply
YES but technically he’s african american.
focus more on his views!
Why do you care? He’s going to win!!!
By Mr. Taco on Jan 2, 2009 | Reply
No, that is not true. If it were, there would be no African-Americans. 99% of them have white in them somewhere down the line, unless both their parents came straight here from Africa. If you have African heritage, doesn’t matter if it is both parents or not, then you can officially call yourself an African-American. You can be African-American AND biracial. One is a cultural thing, and the other is a biological thing. That is the difference.

Yes. But this is his church in Chicago.
…
Scary, isn’t it? I don’t think I’d be happy with a pres. who attended a “white power” church!
By nitzy: the man u fan! on Jan 4, 2009 | Reply
Technically, he is biracial but since his father is African, he can say that he is an African American. Nothing wrong with that.
By 5th Watcher on Jan 5, 2009 | Reply
It makes him two. If being partially another race disqualifies you from being both, then many african americans would be dissqualified from the title. Even I, being as white as a ghost, would be disqualified from that race.

Ever heard of the “one drop rule”? Unfortunately, it does still exist, but it will be up to us (the next generations) to change that way of thinking.

Interesting Question… -because I ran into the SAME one during a discussion I had with a friend of mine who’s half Apache Indian & White… Maybe the BOTTOM line IS- that we’re defined as being AMERICANS- FIRST, with everything ELSE- coming as a sub-text… The fact is, MOST of us are bi-racial… -and it’s racial “pride” that’s getting in the “way” of Our being what we REALLY Are- in this Country; -Americans.

Actually yeah he is…his father is African he was born in America so yeah he’s an African American. So is Charlize Theron she’s a native of Africa and is now an American citizen hence she’s African American. I love how people like to make it seem like Africa is all comprised of the same people. Africa is a continent full of many different ethnicities. The Africa you see now is a result of colonization. There are many types of African Americans

Barack has a white mother and a black father of African decent. He is indeed, biracial. However, in the USA, being
biracial makes one BLACK. If someone has one drop of black race blood in his/her veins, that person is black in the USA. This is historically true and traditionally accepted as standard thinking in the USA.

TONIGHT- Barack said he DENOUCED & REJECTED the SUPPORT of Farrakhan.
Barack was born in Hawaii
Yes he is bi racial
But it is not UNCOMMON for half blacks to call themselves
African American
and last time I checked… Hawaii was still a US state.
By chandiepoo on Jan 28, 2009 | Reply
Yes, I feel he is should be considered bi-racial despite what our country “tends” to label people…and, furthermore, he has not led the life of an “african-american” whose ancestors came here and were forced to be slaves. He’s led a more priviledged life than myself or anyone in my entire middle classed family! I understand there are still issues with race in this country…but I also don’t think it’s fair for him to compare himself with most black people in this country who have survived lives filled with oppression and overt, generational racism.
By Deb M on Jan 30, 2009 | Reply
Yes, you are correct.
I wasn’t too convinced tonight in the debates that he really wanted to “denounce” Farrakhan’s support.
By yutsnark on Feb 2, 2009 | Reply
Well, I suppose he might have said that he’s “half African American.” But really, none of us knows our exact racial composition, so why be picky about it?
By Chihiro00 on Feb 4, 2009 | Reply
He is biracial, however here in the US biracial people who have any kind of African heritage are more often than not considered as African American (even more so by having African American features). Regardless of having mixed ancestry.
By black leopard on Feb 6, 2009 | Reply
yes he is bi racial.
the black candidate label is wrong. we should call him illinois senator. it’s less deceiving, more technically correct as well.
